This is my solution to access the bow eye. It’s “low profile.”

Here’s a shot of the two rudder halves being glued together. I used a piece of fiberglass tape on the longer, forward part of the rudder to stiffen it up a little.

This will do for a rudder. Check out the freshly varnished rub rails. This was just before I put a good dent in it trying to move the bandsaw.

Here’s a shot during the glue-up. I used vintage cut nails to avoid splitting toward the ends. Plus they look cool! Hopefully whoever sees this thing next will look over the craftmanship just as I did and appreciate my work.

Here is a before and after treatment of the pine boards I used. Good, quality, $1.25 per foot pine.. I love this stuff!

Today I took on a mini-project. This hole below the sink allows access to the adjacent bathroom’s tub. It was covered by a piece of painted and chipped plywood.
